Children First

Welcome to Edward T. Bowser, Sr. School!

A high-quality education is one of the most important things that we can provide a child. Exposure to a variety of topics, people, and adventures all contribute to a fulfilling school experience.

This web site is a terrific way to access the information you need about our school, as well as serving as an educational resource. Whether you're currently enrolled or just curious about what we have to offer, you're sure to find a wealth of helpful information.

Dear Parents:

As the summer break winds down and you begin to think about the school year, please note the following:
  • First Day of School for students is Tuesday, September 8, 2015.
  • Classroom Assignments will be posted on boards displayed in the school courtyard and cafeteria.
  • Breakfast Program:  students enter through cafeteria door beginning at 7:30 AM through 7:55 AM. For the safety and security of students all parents/guardians must drop off students in cafeteria when entering the building. If you need to visit a teacher or classroom, you must enter through the front entrance and report to the Main Office.
  • Student Transfers-all requests should be made to secretary in Main Office beginning on or after Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Transfer requests cannot be completed on same day.
  • Back to School Night-for grades Pre-K to grade 5 will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 beginning in the cafeteria from 5:30-7PM. PTO will be present. Please join us!
  • School Uniforms-EOSD expects all students to wear school uniforms daily. Boys-Navy blue pants and white or light blue shirts w/navy blue ties. Girls-Navy blue jumpers with white or light blue shirts. We sell t-shirts, shorts and sweats for gym days.
  • The District will administer the PARCC Assessment this Spring for grade 3-8 students-more information to follow.
  • We will continue to implement the Anti-Bullying legislation put in place in NJ in January of 2011. For further information visit the EOSD website at http://www.eastorange.nj.us
  • Be reminded that the EOSD has a goal to go paperless. All parents of students in grades 1-12 should access their child’s mid quarter notices and report cards via the parent portal. There is a registration and verification process that must be followed. A packet with directions will be sent home with your child during the first days of school. The process will also be outlined on the school website.
  • Please complete the Student Emergency Form and provide updates as needed throughout the school year. We will contact you periodically via the automated School Messenger System and need current phone numbers.
With your continued support and cooperation we will meet and exceed our expectations. See you on September 8th!

Sincerely,
Bowser School Administration

Elizabeth Kelly, Assistant Principal          Brian D. Heaphy, Principal
